Electric scooter hire schemes appear to reduce the risk of bike collisions by around 20%, according to a University of Bristol-led study.
Researchers compared bicycle collision rates in areas before and after introducing an e-scooter scheme, to areas without a scheme. This looked at routinely collected police data on road collisions in the UK, between 2015 and 2023.
