Highway Authorities across much of England are required to submit bids for the second tranche of funding for active travel measures worth £180m. Bid submissions must be made by 7th August, leaving authorities little time to produce the required evidence to support their bids.

The Active Streets Assessment Tool team will demo its capabilties in a free webinar on August 3 at 14.30

The submission document requires authorities to detail proposals for up to five schemes, which may be focussed on specific routes, corridors or areas. The new tool, launched this month, will aid in bid preparation, public consultation and scheme evaluation.

This tool is already being used by a small number of pioneering authorities who have worked with the development team to create the app, which is delivered entirely online. It is now available for immediate deployment to support bid submissions, as well as for longer-term planning use

This tool embraces detailed network infrastructure data from Ordnance Survey Master Map, enhanced with additional datasets for individual road sections including network flow, average speeds, 85th percentile speeds, modelled congestion, and collision history.

The online platform is deployed for up to four users per authority, together with all bundled datasets in under two working days at a fixed price of £3,595.

This introductory price applies to the end of August 2020 but will also be honoured for authorities who intend to use the funding to purchase the tool for ongoing use, including scheme evaluation post-implementation.

The tool also includes some pre-defined filters based on parameters set for active zones and cycle lanes allowing users to start triaging their network in a matter of seconds from receiving their login details.

Authorities who want to understand more about the tool are urged to contact the Agilysis team directly, who will be able to answer any specific questions and provide a personal demonstration.
