Lincolnshire County Council has selected Carillion to build the Lincoln Eastern bypass, a 4.6-mile road connecting the A158 Wragby Road in the north-east of the city with the A15 Sleaford Road to the south.
The award is subject to the Government agreeing the release of £49.95m for the scheme, which Lincolnshire expects will happen in December.
Construction could commence early next year, with the road being completed in 2019.
