The government has put on hold the plan to build a western rail connection from the Great Western Main Line to Heathrow Airport.
Work on the project is being brought to a halt because of the collapse in demand for rail and air travel caused by Covid-19, and the knock-on effects for the project’s funding. The Government wants Heathrow Airport Ltd to contribute to the rail link’s costs.
