Halton and Warrington councils have prepared a memorandum of understanding to manage the effects of Halton’s Mersey Gateway project for a new road crossing over the River Mersey. Warrington supports the project in principle but fears drivers will divert onto routes through the borough to avoid paying tolls on the new crossing and the Silver Jubilee Bridge.
