Bus operators will continue to be able to participate in multi-operator travelcard schemes without fear of action from the competition authorities under proposals published by Office of Fair Trading. The OFT is consulting on extending the block exemption for public transport ticketing schemes from the Competition Act 1998 by an additional five years from the current 28 February 2011 expiry date to 2016.
