DfT should rethink flawed HS2 station demand forecasts

The confirmation that the number of passengers forecast to use High Speed 2 stations is calculated by modelling station access time based on access by car is no surprise.

When reading the HS2 report in March 2010, I was unconvinced by their estimate of the numbers of passengers that would use the proposed Birmingham Interchange station. To base the number of passengers using a high-speed line station on access time by car seriously distorts the results into favouring unrealistic proposals.
