I must thank Gavin Smith of Bristol for his kind comments about me and for refraining from the kind of rudeness my original letter was responding to (LTT Letters 3 Jun).
I think, however, he is a tad cycle blind when he denies that cycling is actually done by no more than a tiny a minority in any country. Yes there are more cyclists in flat countries but even then, only in towns and cities.
Gavin is wrong to state that the economy is not based upon, and whole communities were not designed...
