New trams for Midland Metro

The first of a £40m fleet of new trams for the Midland Metro began running between Wolverhampton and Birmingham this week. The four ‘Urbos 3’ vehicles, built by CAF in Spain, are part of a 20-strong fleet being introduced over the next few months. They will replace the 16 vehicles built by Ansaldo of Italy for the line’s opening in 1999. The new vehicles have a higher passenger capacity – 210 versus 156.  ...
