One of Birmingham’s biggest pieces of 1960s road infrastructure could be demolished under plans unveiled by the city council this week. 

The A38 connects the Aston Expressway in north-east Birmingham with the Bristol Road in the south-west of the city, skirting the city centre in tunnels and open stretches of road. 

The city council says the road is a “significant barrier to movement and inhibitor to development in the city centre”.
