More cash for West Wales rail study

The Welsh Government has earmarked £300,000 for a feasibility study of reopening the Carmarthen-Aberystwyth railway, but will also take independent advice on the project from the new National Infrastructure Commission for Wales.

The minority Labour Government has included the study in its 2017/18 budget agreement with Plaid Cymru, which has some of its strongest support in the area served by the railway before closure in 1965.
