Jenoptik acquires ESSA Technology

Jenoptik Traffic Solutions UK has acquired ESSA Technology, a UK software developer that specialises development police and enforcement back office solutions.

ESSA Technology interfaces real-time vehicle information with operators’ data, through the use of data mining and analysis tools used for ANPR systems. ESSA has recently worked with Jenoptik on traffic monitoring and control applications including police networks, weigh in motion (WIM), average speed enforcement and Red X monitoring.

ESSA Technology will now become part of Jenoptik Traffic Solutions UK.

Kevin Chevis, chief executive of Jenoptik Traffic Solutions UK, said: “The ITS market continues to grow rapidlly through an increased demand for smarter and safer environments. This requires the management of large quantities of ANPR data and this is where ESSA excels. Now that ESSA is part of Jenoptik we will be able to further develop the solutions we deliver to customers both in the UK and.“ 

Jenoptik last strengthened its position in the UK with the acquisition of Vysionics at the end of 2014.
