Rail: throwing taxpayers' money down a bottomless pit

I read in The Times on 11 March that Britain’s new aircraft carriers, HM Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales, were so named to make it more difficult to scrap them. The Times also says that their price rose from £3.5bn to £6.2bn in 2010 so that, by then, the ships were “too expensive to cancel”. Barmy or what?
