The City of London Corporation’s plans to introduce a 15mph speed limit across the Square Mile were announced by Alistair Moss, the council’s deputy chairman, planning and transportation committee, at Healthy Streets earlier this month. He also set out proposals for creating “pedestrian priority streets” and to work with Transport for London to look beyond the Ultra Low Emission Zone with further measures to reduce emissions from vehicles. He noted that the bans of all traffic except buses and cycles from Bank Junction between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday, “has highlighted the potential to be more flexible in how our streets are used”. Many street improvements is being delivered in conjunction with developers which shows that the business community “are recognising the value of high quality public realm” he told delegates at the event, hosted by the City of London Corporation and organised by Landor LINKS.
