Reduced speed limits to improve air quality on four trunk roads in Wales have also had a beneficial effect on safety.

In June 2018, the Welsh Government reduced the speed limit from 70mph to 50mph on the A470 past Pontypridd, the M4 near Port Talbot, the A494 at Deeside and the A483 in Wrexham.
