Bus operators blamed for cost of Welsh discount youth travel

The Welsh Government is blaming bus operators for the high initial cost of its discount travel scheme for people aged 16 to 18.

The MyTravelPass scheme started as a 19-month pilot in September 2015. A Wales Audit Office report showed that, in 2016/17, the first full year of the pilot scheme, the Government paid operators £9.47m for participating.
