Portsmouth proposes Class B clean air zone

Councillors in Portsmouth have approved the idea of introducing a Class B charging clean air zone (CAZ) as part of plans to ensure the city complies with EU nitrogen dioxide limit values.  

The CAZ?would apply to buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles and heavy goods vehicles. Initial modelling has focused on a scheme on Portsea Island, which covers the vast majority of Portsmouth city, though the boundary is not settled.
