Strong support for 20mph in Wales but ‘scepticism’ over behaviour change

The Welsh Government has released results of research which found that 80% of adult respondents support making 20mph the default speed limit in built-up areas. However, the research uncovered “a great deal of scepticism over whether driver behaviour will change”.

Beaufort Research interviewed 1,002 people aged 16 and over across Wales last November. “When it was explained the Welsh Government was planning to reduce the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph in residential communities...
