Mail speed camera coverage provokes left-wing media backlash

After most of the media had reported in a straightforward manner on a new report by the RAC Foundation into the effectiveness of speed cameras, one paper’s spin on the story itself became the story in the days that followed.

THE CONTENTIOUS issue of speed cameras, and their effectiveness, flared up once again in the media last week after the publication of a report by the RAC Foundation indicating that they reduce the number of serious accidents by more than a quarter, even after factors such as regression to the mean are stripped out.
