The completely cash-free road user charging scheme is now a reality in two Norwegian cities, Bergen and Tonsberg, Tore Skulstadof of Bro & Tunnelselskapet AS told the audience at Smart Moving, with more likely to follow. Since February 2004 most vehicles passing through the toll rings surrounding the two cities have been charged by in-vehicle tags, with non-tag users having their number plates read by cameras before receiving a monthly bill.
