Demolition begins of houses on heavily polluted road

Houses alongside a road once described as the most polluted in the UK outside central London have been demolished, after the local authority decided that re-housing was the quickest way of protecting the residents from high nitrogen dioxide concentrations.

Woodside Terrace was immediately adjacent to the A472 at Hafod-yr-Ynys Road, where lorries and other vehicles climb steeply to travel between valleys.
