West Sussex and East Surrey independent operator Southdown Buses has been purchased by Go-Ahead Group through its subsidiary Brighton and Hove Buses.
The deal involves some 25 buses and 43 staff. Go-Ahead says that Southdown will operate as a separate business unit within the group, and initially retain its local identity, although over time anticipates altering the branding to Metrobus, another former Independent operator through which it operates in Surrey and Sussex.
