Unite members at First Essex voted overwhelmingly for strike action

Members of the Unite trade union at bus operator First Essex are to stage a 24 hour strike in a row over pay next Monday.

The union says that members have made the decision following the imposition of a 0% pay deal by First Group. The union adds that the group is "using the recession as ‘an excuse to freeze pay’ on the back of the company posting an annual profit of £134m".
