Bus station departure charge hike angers Lancs operators

BUS OPERATORS in Lancashire have criticised the county council’s decision to dramatically increase bus station departure charges.

Lancashire is trying to make savings of £200m by 2020/21 and wants to make bus stations cost neutral. Andrew Varley, public transport manager for Lancashire County Council, said: “We realise the impact that increased departure charges may have on operators and are trying to reduce the impact by phasing in the increases to achieve full cost recovery...
