Vehicle speed limiters – a sure way to increase driver stress

James Walker points to the stupidity of posting 20mph limits where the street layout is sensible for higher speeds (Letters LTT 9 Jun). 

Here in Northampton we have the reverse stupidity of 20mph signs in areas where speeds were already at or below 20mph due to street layout and parked cars. A sensible move there would be to remove the signs, so reducing the number of objects people may walk or otherwise crash into.
